Margie G. Hewitt, 84, of Washington, died at 10:05 a.m. Tuesday December 29, 2009 at Daviess Community Hospital. Born Jan. 8, 1925, in Annarose, Texas, she was the daughter of Grover Barnwell and Francis Alafir (Squyres) Garrett.

She was a Texas high school graduate and member of the First Baptist Church. She had been a floral designer.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Philip Hardwick of Washington and Jan and Jeff Perry of Winslow; grandchildren, Aaron and Tony Hardwick, Amy and Michael Emery, Ryan Hardwick, Jennifer Perry and Jamie Perry; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Grace Emery; and very special friend, Jack Winslade.

Her husband, Walter E. Hewitt, whom she married Aug. 18, 1945, died Jan. 3, 1975. Her parents, six sisters and four brothers are also deceased.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Gill Chapel, with Rev. Tim Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals.
