Theresia Ettner was born in Austria in 1867 and died in Tampa, Florida, June 23, 1954, at the age of 87 years.
In 1878 she came to the United States and settled near Nebraska City, Nebr.
She was united in marriage with John Cook in the Catholic Church of Nebraska City. To this union 12 children were born.
Early in their marriage the family moved to a homestead 7 1/2 miles northwest of St. Francis, Kansas, and there resided until the death of Mr. Cook in 1919. They were a part of the pioneer tide which changed this section from uninhabited prairie to an organized agricultural community.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Cook moved to St. Francis in 1922. In 1923 (March 26th) she united with the Christian Church of St. Francis. In 1930 she moved to Greeley, Colo. In 1936 she moved to Tampa, Fla., where she remained until her death. Mrs. Cook had been critically ill for more than a year and her passing ended a long trial of suffering.
She is preceded in death by her husband, and one daughter, Maude, who died in 1920.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Mitchell of St. Francis, and Mrs. Jennie Muro of Tampa, Fla.; nine sons: Lawson Joseph of Denver, Colo., Grover, William, John, Edward, Jim, and Joe, all of St. Francis, George of Greeley, Colo., and the Rev. Frank Cook of Central City, Pa.; two sisters, Mrs. Kattie Kruse and Mrs. Bertha Ettner, both of Dover, Okla.; one brother, Leo Ettner of Dover, Okla., 39 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church in St. Francis Sunday, June 27, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Webb officiating. Burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery.
