Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He entered the US Army at St Louis, Missouri. He served as a First Sergeant in Company B, 3rd US Cavalry. He was awarded the CMOH for action on April 26, 1872 at Loupe Fork of the Platte River, Nebraska. His citation reads "Gallantry in action".
