Harriet B. Torrey was born September 14, 1840, in Hamilton, Madison County New York, and passed away February 26, 1921, aged 80 years, 5 months and 12 days at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Howard Pierce. She was united in marriage to George M. Boughton, February 4, 1866 at Lawrence, Van Buren County, Michigan. To this union was born one son and two daughters, Mr. Warren Boughton of Scotts, Mrs. Nellie Nidy of Wakeshma, who died December 13, 1910 and Mrs. Gertrude Pierce of Scotts. She leaves morn her loss one son and one daughter, also a sister, Mrs. Nellie Fiske of Lawrence, eight [grand]children and a host of relatives and friends She was of a bright and loving disposition, a fond mother and a model neighbor. Funeral services were held in the Scotts, M. E. Church, Monday afternoon February 28th and the remains were interred in Boughton cemetery. The Climax Crescent March 4, 1920 page 10
