Mr. Evans came to Vinton in 1913 from West Liberty and opened a dry cleaning business in the east part of town. He had lived at his present home since 1917. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Masonic lodge, AF and AM No. 62 of Vinton.
Mr. Evans was born Aug. 29, 1888, At Creston, a son of Frank and Mary McCabe Evans He married Nora McCaw at West Liberty Sept. 5, 1911.
Surviving are his widow, three children, Mrs. August (Geraldine) Brehm of Cedar Rapids, Philip of Whittier, Calif., and Harold of Vinton, six grandchildren, and a brother, Homer Evans of Burlington
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
