J. T. graduated from Doniphan (Nebraska) High School in 1942. He served during World War II in the United States Marines from Feb. 22, 1943, to Dec. 19, 1945. He helped liberate the islands of Tinian, Guam and Saipan. J. T. married Alberta E. Wolfe on September 3, 1954, in Clay Center, Nebraska. J. T. and Alberta moved to Southern California and J. T. worked in construction there. They moved back to Hastings, Nebraska in 1993.
He was a member of North Shore Assembly of God Church of Hastings, Nebraska the American Legion in Doniphan, Nebraska and Hastings, Nebraska, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, both in Hastings, Nebraska.
J. T. survived by: daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Dick Lepin of Omaha, Nebraska; son and daughter-in-law, Lesley and Cheri of Temecula, California; stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Deanne Glave of Lompoc, California and Terree and Fred DeRosa of Hastings, Nebraska; stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law, Gene and Joyce McCoy of Hastings, Nebraska and Jacque McCoy of Port Hueneme, California and sister, Gertrude Peabody of San Diego, California and a host of friends and relatives..
J. T. was welcomed into The Heavenly Home by: his parents, John and Georgia Bowden; wife, Alberta Bowden; brothers, Leo, Fletch and Joe Bowden; and stepdaughters, Ida Mae Schmidt and Marilyn Thibodea.
