James Loyce Adams of San Angelo died on Monday, Jan. 10,2000,in Shannon Medical Center.
He was the son of W.M. and Della Jackson Adams.

His family moved to Snyder from the family farm in 1929 and he worked in various capacities on area ranches.

In 1931 he bought his first truck and began his trucking career by hauling apples from New Mexico to Snyder.
Loyce hauled cattle from Scurry county to Fort Worth where the only hard surface road was a brick road from Weatherford to Mineral Wells.

He enjoyed rodeos and was the last survivor of the original rodeo directors of Scurry County.

In 1942 Loyce volunteered for military service and served in the Army Air Corp.during World War ll.

In 1959 he married Kate Willmon.

In 1968 Loyce began stock farming on the Polar Road and enjoyed that until he moved to the Baptist Memorial Retirement Center in San Angelo in 1983.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Kate Adams of San Angelo;
step daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Kent Gardner.He is also survived by a granddaughter,a grandson and two great-granddaughters;three nephews; two nieces.
Loyce was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Florence Henley, Laurence Adams and Oma Adams.

Services will be at 2 p.m.Jan.12,at Bell-Seale-Cypert Funeral in Snyder. Dr. Kenneth Patrick and the Rev. Tom Martin will officiate.

Pallbearers will be J.B. Self,John Harris and Joe Warren,all of San Angelo,Jess Everett and Brent Murphy, both of Snyder and Don Jones of Fluvanna.
