J. D. Catron, 39, Buried in Rosenberg"

Funeral services for Joe Devore Catron, 39, were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock from the First Baptist hurch in Rosenberg, with Rev. Roy A. Carley, pastor of the church, and Rev. J. Vernon Wheeless of Houston, former Rosenberg pastor, officiating. Burial was in the W.O.W. Cemetery.

Mr. Catron died Sunday night at 7:25 o'clock at the Fort Bend hospital, where he underwent an operation last Wednesday. His death came as a shock to his many friends in Fort Bend County.

Mr. Catron was born in Houston, November 17, 1907, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Catron. He moved to Rosenberg in 1912. After graduation from the Rosenberg High School in 1924, he attended Texas A. and M. college for two years. After entering his junior year in college in 1926, he left school on the advice of his doctors.

He was employed by the Houston Lighting and Power Company as chief clerk both in the capacity of store clerk and general clerk, for nine years. In 1935 he began his career with the Knipling-Junker Motor Co., where he remained until his death.

He was a member of the Rosenberg Baptist Church since 1923. He was president of the Young Married People's Training Union. He was a lieutenant in the Civilian Air Patrol during the war and was a member of the Rosenberg Fire department and the Rosenberg Lions club.

On June 15, Mr. Catron was married to Miss Edith Senior at the Harrisburg Baptist Church in Houston. They had two children.

Survivors are hs widow and two children, Marinelle and Tommie Joe; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Catron; a sister, Mrs. LaNelle Smith of Freeport; his grandmother, Mrs. Emma B. Mulcahy of Rosenberg, and a number of other relatives.

Pallbearers were Raymond Knipling, Fred Meyer, John Beasley, Oliver Lamkin, J. E. Junker. D. I. Lowe, George G. Roane and G. R. Pickard. The Foerster Funeral Home directed. * * *
