An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, 4-1-1982:

Mrs. Callie Van Winkle, a longtime resident of the Gatesville area, died Saturday in a local nursing home. She was 86.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel and were conducted by Minister Delbert Smith. Burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Van Winkle, daughter of the late George and Mary White, was born in Coryell County on Oct. 12, 1895, and was reared in this county. She was married to Alex Edward Van Winkle on Oct. 25,1913.
After her husband's death in 1960, she moved from the Arnett community to McGregor. She returned to Gatesville in 1969.
Mrs. Van Winkle was a member of the West Main Church of Christ.
She is survived by one son, Gayle Van Winkle of Lometa; four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Connie) Wright and Mrs. Bob (Erma Lee) McCallister, both of Gatesville, Mrs. Thomas (Nita Mae) Mack of Watermann, Ill., and Ms. Shirley Norris of Belton; a sister, Mrs. Paul Cowan of McGregor; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Van Winkle's funeral were O'Neal Reneau, Michael Wright, Mike Van Winkle, Rickey Wright, Tony Van Winkle and Larry Norris.
