Walter Leroy Kent, 97, died Wednesday Nov. 23, 1988, at Oakwood Villa Care Center, Hutchinson. Born Aug. 16, 1891 at Smithfield, Ill., he married Ella Kent Dec. 19, 1917 at Stafford, she died July 17, 1977. A retired postmaster, he was a resident of Stafford for 80 years.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Stafford.
Survivors: sons, Walter Leroy Jr., Pine Bluff, Ark., Dillard Earl, Wichita; daughter Bernice Flanders, Hutchinson; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was 2 p.m. Saturday at Peacock-Milton Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Don Moor officiating. Burial was in the Stafford Cemetery. Memorials may go to the First Christian Church, Stafford.
