Walter Ladd, Des Moines

Walter Frank Ladd, a former Madison county resident, died Sunday, Nov. 8, at Des Moines General Hospital. He was 75 years old.

Born July 14, 1906 in Patterson, he was the son of John and Mary Ann Gillespie Ladd.

On Sept. 22, 1928, he married Charlotte Brittain in Winterset. Eight children were born to the union.

In 1942 he moved to Des Moines, where he worked for Boyer Petroleum, retiring as foreman in 1963.

Mr. Ladd was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Richard; four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of Des Moines; three sons, William and Phillip of Des Moines and Robert of Upland, Calif.; four daughters, Joan Ladd, Julia Kauffman and Diana Young of Des Moines and Donna Auen of Perry; two brothers, Boyd of Newton and John of Murray, Neb.; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. at Collins Funeral Home, Rev. Phill Hall officiating.

Burial was at North McDonald Cemetery.
