Young Reuben Allen's family was one of the first families in East Point. He was the son of Joseph M. and Emily (Mundy) Allen. He was the Grandson of Reuben Mundy, the proprietor of historic Mundy's Mill in Jonesboro, Ga. He was born in 1855 and grew up in the Jonesboro, Georgia area where he lived until his marriage, he then moved to East Point.
He and his first wife, Penelope had four children. After her death he married Martha Jane Whaley and they had five children.
He was employed as foreman of the White Hickory Wagon Manufacturing Co. until ill health forced him to retire.
He was one of the first City Councilmen of East Point and he and his wife were instrumental in organizing the First Baptist Church in East Point.
