David Leslie was born in 1787 in East Bethlehem Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, a son of George and Esther (unknown) Leslie, he moved with his family to Montgomery County, Ohio in the 1800-1804 era; he married Magdalena Caylor on 25 September 1809 in Montgomery County, Ohio; his wife Magdalena, died in 1827 and his 3 youngest sons were sent to live with neighbor families via a guardianship court order; in 1834 Joseph 16 years old, chose George Olinger as guardian, in the fall of 1837, Christian age 15 and Absolam age 14 both chose Jacob Holderman to be their guardian. David remarried to Sarah Jane Shaeffer on 20 October 1829 in Montgomery County, Ohio, and they had 8 children; they moved to Shelby County Indiana in 1848; his wife Sarah Jane (Shaeffer) Leslie died on 12 October1876 and is buried in the St. George Cemetery in Shelby, Indiana. David left home after the 1850 census of Shelby County, Indiana and his whereabouts are a mystery to this day. David's death and burial site are yet to be discovered.
