Funeral services for Joseph John (Joe) Glaze, 89, of Gatesville were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 7 in the First Baptist Church. Rev. Billy Bob Moore officiated and burial was in Restland Cemetery, with Scott's in charge.
Mr. Glaze died Feb. 5 in the local hospital. He was born in Cass County Aug. 7, 1881, son of Mr. and Mrs. John R. Glaze, and was reared there. He came to Coryell County as a young man.
He mas married to Miss Maurine Jones Dec. 22, 1915, and they moved to Gatesville shortly after their marriage. Mr. Glaze farmed in the Dhio-Liberty community and then worked at the State Schools for boys for 17 years.
He later assisted in the operation of a rest home in Gatesville.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Gatesville; two sons, Rayford Perry Glaze of Rt. 2, Waco, and John J. Glaze of Gatesville;
three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Jo Bernice) Tyson of Seadrift, Mrs. E. E. (Pauline) Vermillion Jr. of Rt. 3, Gatesville, and Mrs. Wayne (Betty Jane) Price of Gatesville; one sister, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Taylor of Linden; 12 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for Mr. Glaze's funeral were Clarence Bunnell, Clovis Belvin, Gayle Calhoun, Arthur Brewer, Don Calhoun Ralph Perryman, W. T. Perryman and Cam MoGilvray.
