Mrs. Earlene Nesbitt Hix of Gatesville died here January 9. She was 84.
Services were held Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Gatesville with Rev. Don Grogan officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Scott's Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She was born June 25,1907, in Coryell County, daughter of the late Earl Hampton and Eula Sadler Nesbitt. She was raised and attended school in Valley Mills, graduating from Valley Mills High School in 1925. Mrs. Hix attended Trinity College in Waxahachie for two years and graduated from Baylor University in 1929.
She married Mr. O.N. Hix November 11,1929, and they made their home in Gatesville. Mr. Hix preceded her in death October 11, 1974.
Mrs. Hix was a very active member of The First Presbyterian
Church in Gatesville.
Survivors include two daughters, Miss Janis Hix of Gatesville and Mrs. James (Jean) Smith of Hamilton; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Stanley J. Sadler, Chester Sadler, Don Hunt, Steve Tindell, Walter Hix, Bill Hix and Bill Nesbitt.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnny Bradford, Garland Anderson, Jack McNeil, Cloyce Duncan, Dr. O.W. Lowrey, W.T. Hix, Wade Sadler Jr. and Emerson Chester.
The family has designated The First Presbyterian Church of
Gatesville for memorials.
