NEWTON - Elizabeth J. "Betty" Hurst, 87, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Presbyterian Manor. Betty was born Nov. 11, 1922, to James and Carrie Whittemore. She married William Hurst in May 1942. He died in May 1992.
Survivors: twin children, Stephen and Susan Hurst; and grandchildren, Jane Baker, Amy Raprager, Michael and Robert Hurst, and Tim Schmidt. Betty is preceded in death by: parents; husband; daughters, Ashley and Gail Hurst; two brothers; and four sisters.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton. Friends may call the funeral home Wednesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Memorials to Carriage Factory Gallery, in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, Newton.
