Gilbert Donald "Don" Bell, 76, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born Wednesday, March 8, 1933 in Pleasant Hill, the son of Gilbert Walton and Elizabeth Iona (Storms) Bell. He departed this life at 3:39 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.
He was a United States Navy Veteran.

On January 14, 1969 Don was united in marriage to Eva Christine Vancil in Miami, Oklahoma.

Gilbert was as a registered Pharmacist for over 50 years and worked for the Katz/Osco Drug Stores for 42 years. He was a life member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and an active member and Past President and Treasurer of the Pleasant Hill Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Eva of the home; daughters Debbie Bell and companion Bart Walstrom, of Fort Worth, Texas and Jan Pruitt and spouse Mark of Overland Park, Kansas; son Tim Soldner and spouse Eileen of Pleasant Hill; sister Joyce Dowell and spouse Ron of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren Lindsay, Matthew, and Nathan; nieces and nephew Coyita Miller, Ceola Knisely, and Kelsie Clark; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December, 30, 2009, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Reverend Carl Knapp will officiate. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery with military honors by the Pleasant Hill VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers are Dave Betts, Kelsie Clark, Ron Dowell, Randy Knisely, Mark Pruitt, and Bart Walstrom.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church where the Pleasant Hill Lions Club will hold a Rose service just before service time.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church building fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
