John Albert Rosher was the son of Jonathan Rosher and Isabella Ablitt of Gas House Lane, Needham Market, Suffolk


Death certificate says he died on 3rd March 1916

The funeral of Private John Albert Rosher, of the 11th Surrey Regiment, whose home was at Needham Market, took place at Barking Churchyard, on Thursday afternoon, the Rector (the Rev. Chas. Baker) officiating. By the kind permission of Lieut. - Col. G. W. Walters, commanding the Wessex Territorial Engineers, a firing party from the regiment attended the obsequies.


The coffin was of polished elm, with brass furniture, and the breast plate was inscribed: "Private John Albert Rosher, 11th Surrey Regiment, died March 3rd, 1916, aged 28 Years."


6 of the rank and file of the Wessex Regiment acted as bearers. Three volleys were fired over the grave, and the "Last Post" was sounded.


John's brother, Charles, also died in WW1 in the same year.
