Mrs. Mary Boner Chesnut Dies Suddenly Friday
Well-Known Danville Lady Charter Member Of Local Church
Mrs. Mary Boner Chesnut, 75, died suddenly at 7:30 o'clock Friday night at Ephraim McDowell Memorials Hospital following a paralytic stroke.
The daughter of John A. and Georgia Ann Boner, Mrs. Chesnut was born January 30, 1868, at Marksbury in Garrard county, and lived in Boyle and Garrard counties all her life.
She united with the church at Forks of Dix River at an early age and was a charter member of the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church.
Married on May 18, 1887, to John A. Chesnut, Mrs. Chesnut lived to celebrate her 56th wedding anniversary several weeks ago.
Survivors include the husband, president of Chesnut-Salter Best Hardware Company; four brothers, Alfred Boner of Somerset; George Boner Dayton Ohio; Oliver Boner, Omaha, Nebraska; and Speed F. Boner of California; a half-brother, John, Leavenworth, Kansas; three nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church, with the pastor. Dr. Elwyn N. Wilkinson, assisted by Dr. F. W. Eberhardt andDr. Logan English of Paris.
The tower chimes presented to the church in August, 1941, by Mr. and Mrs. Chesnut, will play following the services.
Active casket-bearers will be L. L. Robinson, Frank McGiboncy, J. C. Pearce, R. E. Ellis, Gilbert White, and Allen C. Terhune.
Honorary- casket-bearers will be W. B. Coleman, John S. Baughman, D. F. Thompson, R. L. Salter, P, H. Best, Gentry Akin, J. H. Coleman, Joe Driesler, Ernest Cook, and Alvis Caldwell.
