Mr. and Mrs. George Krumme Wed Fifty Years Ago Today

The seven children of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Krumme Sr. will join with them today in celebrating the golden wedding anniversary of the heads of the family. Mr. and Mrs. Krumme will hold open house for their friends from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. at their home on U. S. Highway No. 71.

Mr. Krumme was a native of Philadelphia while Mrs. Krumme was born at Weston. They both were brought to St. Joseph in early childhood and have lived in or near the ciaty ever since. Until his retirement a year ago, Mr. Krumme operated a farm south of the city fifty years. Mr. and Mrs. Krumme were married Jan. 23, 1884, at the home of Mrs. Krumme's father, Malcolm Hoffner, south of the city.

All of their seven children are living and will attend the celebration. The children are Arthur E., Charles F., Austin H., Milton M. and George E. Krumme Jr., all of St. Joseph; Mrs. Lydia Hersh, St. Joseph, and Mrs. Carrie Woodruff, Sommerville MO. In addition there are twenty-eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Octogenarian Is Dead
George Edward Krumme Sr. Passed
Away at Home This Morning

George Edward Krumme Sr., eighty years old, died early this morning at his home, a mile and a half south of St. Joseph on the Sparta road. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Sparta and of the Masonic Lodge of Agency. Mr. Krumme was a retired farmer and had spent all his life in that community.

He is survived by five sons, A. E., Charles F., George E., Jr.; Austin H. and Milton M. Krumme; two daughters, Mrs. Lyda Hersh and Mrs. Carrie Woodruff; a brother, William A. Krumme, and a sister, Mrs. Gussie Maxey, all of St. Joseph, and a half brother, J. W. Krumme, Oklahoma.

The body is at H. A. Sullins' mortuary at Gower and will be removed to the home this evening.

Funeral Services for George Edward Krumme Sr. will be held at Sparta Methodist Church, July 18, 2 p.m., Rev. S. E. Hoover officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery; Agency Masonic Lodge will conduct services at the grave. H. A. Sullins Funeral Home in charge.
