An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, March 27, 1959:

Funeral services for George Allen Copeland, 71, retired ginner and carpenter, were, held Tuesday afternoon at the Cold Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Ollie Williams conducted the rites, and burial was in the Restland Cemetery with Scott's in charge.
Pallbearers were James Palmer, Joe Palmer, James Tippit, Bobby Tippit, David Copeland and Cecil Curry.
Mr. Copeland died Saturday morning in the local hospital.
He resided in Flat most of his life, and also lived in West Texas for the last 2 1/2 years, he had been living five miles southeast of Gatesville.
A native of Georgia, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tahoka.
He was married to Miss Rachael A. Hardin Sept. 10, 1905.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Luther Roy Copeland of Gatesville and D. W. Copeland of O'Donnell; three daughters, Mrs. James Palmer of Flat, Mrs. James Tippit of Gatesville and Mrs. Franklin Rhea of Germany; five brothers, R. L. Copeland of Temple, Henry Copeland of Flat, C. D. Copeland of Temple, W. T. Copeland of Temple and J. W. Copeland of Fort Worth; three sisters, Mrs. U. L. Hardin of Flat, Mrs. Jake Kailene of Hpouston, and Mrs. Floyd Howard of McGregor; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
