From "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Friday, February 10, 1967:

Mrs. Sudie Clara Blankenship of Pearl died Saturday in the local hospital. She was 91 and had resided in Coryell County most of her life.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Scott's Funeral Home chapel. Rev. Dwayne Martin conducted the rites and burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. Blankenship was born in Walker County July 27, 1875, and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Lightsey.
She married J. M. Blankenship, a farmer, in 1907 and they made their home in the White Hall community.
Mr. Blankenship died in 1923.
Mrs. Blankenship moved from White Hall to Pearl in 1947.
She was a member of the White Hall Baptist Church.
Survivors are one son, Raymond Blankenship of Rt. 2, Gatesville; one daughter, Mrs. Clara Wright of Pearl; a brother, Louis Lightsey of Seguin; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A son, George Blankenship, died in 1937.
Pallbearers for Mrs. Blankenship's funeral were J. B. Parish, Earnest Mariott, T. J. Smith, Grady Keeton, Herman Hardie and John Holland Crow.
