Mrs. DeLong Dies
at Her Home Here
Mrs. Elizabeth DeLong who has
been poorly for the past year or more
died: at her home here last Friday.
Her death removes another one of our
well known pioneers.
Elizabeth Ann Rooker was born,
February 14, 1848 in Polk County,
Iowa and passed away December 16,
1932 at the age of 84 years, 10 months
and 2 days. She has lived all her
life in this state. She was married
to Amasa DeLong January 10, 1867
in Mitchellville, Iowa. To this union
were born six children. One daughter
having proceeded her in death. Those
left to mourn her passing are Hattie
Gifford of Altoona, Walter DeLong
of Denver, Colorado, Margaret Canfield
of Downing, Wisconsin, William
DeLong of Marcelle, Minnesota and
Ada Kettells of Des Moines. Besides
the two sons and three daughters
there are 28 grandchildren and 34
great grandchildren. Her husband
proceeded her in death on February 4,
1920. Mrs. DeLong was a charter
member of the Christian Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday
afternoon at 2:30 from the Christian
Church, and were conducted by her
pastor, Rev. M. Dwight Walker.
Burial was made in the Mitchellville
cemetery.
CARD OF THANKS
We sincerely appreciate the many
kindnesses shown us during the illness
and death of our mother and grand
mother. The flowers were beautiful.
The people from the church, the
neighbors and friend's were so near to
us in our time of sorrow. We wish
