John Orben Ferrel, 88, of Pettigrew, died August 8, at Newton Medical Center in Newton, Kansas, he was born July 16, 1904 at Boston, Arkansas, the son of Thomas Nelson and Abbie Cowan Ferrel, he was a truck driver and a farmer, a member of the Farm Bureau and a lifetime member of the Pettigrew Community Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eula Karr Ferrel of the home; two sons, and daughters-in-law, Conald and Sandra Ferrel of Wichita, KS, Ronald and Joan Ferrel of Newton, KS; one daughter and son-in-law, Geneva and Joe Anderson of Midwest City, Okla.; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 12th at the Pettigrew Community Church with Rev. Layton Porter and Rev. Stan Weyhrich officiating. Interment was in the Boston Cemetery under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home. Pallbearers were John Stuhlsatz, George Martin, Michael Ferrel, Larry Joe Karr, Jerry White and David Robbins.
