He was the last Marshall to own Marshall Hall. In 1866 he sold the property to Mr. Little. Later the 412 acres were owned by the Mount Vernon and Marshall Hall Steamboat Co. On November 29, 1855 as Thomas Marshall, he married Henrietta E. Lyles at the District of Columbia.

In Georgetown, by the Rev. Mr. Gassaway, on Tuesday, the 8th instant, Thomas Marshall, of Charles County, Maryland, to Miss Sarah M. Lyles, of the District of Columbia.

Thomas Marshall of Marshall Hall, who died at his home in Washington Grove, June 18, was buried Saturday in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Marshall was born in this city of a prominent family and was nearly seventy-eight years of age. For a number of years he was in business here. He also lived in New Orleans for a period. The services over his remains were conducted by Rev. T.J. Packard of the Rockville Episcopal Church and were held in the chapel of the cemetery.
