Donald (Duck) Lorenz was born on September 29, 1932 in Langdon ND and passed away on December 13, 2009 at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, also in Langdon. Donald was the Son of Peter and Tillie (Gellner) Lorenz. Donald attended school in Langdon, graduating from St. Alphonsus in 1950. After school, Don worked on the family farm. For several years during the winter months, he worked various jobs in Flint Michigan and Milwaukee Wisconsin. It was in Milwaukee where Donald met and married LaVerne Olson, also of Langdon. They were married on December 1, 1956. The couple made their home and raised their family on the family farm. He retired from farming in 1990 and then worked for several years for the Cavalier County Road Maintenance Department. For the last few years he thoroughly enjoyed working parttime at Tom's Lounge. Donald had many skills and was able to fix and build most anything and always had an idea of how to make things better. He enjoyed visiting with friends, family, and grandkids. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and still would as long as the weather was nice or the heater worked. Donald was a charter member of the Eagles Club in Langdon.

Survivors include his Son Dan and his wife Joni of Mayville ND; son Michael of Grand Forks, ND; daughter Betty and Jon Lague of Sabin, MN; and son Gary and wife Pam of Fargo, ND. Eight grandchildren including, Kayla and her husband Blake Johnson Fargo, Luke and Sara of Mayville, Nick, Nate, Noah, of Sabin MN, and Matthew, Megan of Fargo. Sisters Marilyn and Husband Lowell Kartes of Langdon, LouAnn and her husband Richard Fleck of Minot ND.

Mass of Christian Burial: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, North Dakota with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday.

Vigil Prayer Service: beginning at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral Home.
