Funeral services for Leo Allard, who died July 10 at the Des Moines VA Hospital, were held July 13 from the Assembly of God Church Rev. M. H. Mooberry officiating. Burial was in Dunreath Cemetery with Evans - McCleery Funeral Service in charge. Military honors were accorded by John Myers Post 3519, as of Foreign Wars Slayden Post 363, American Legion.
Casketbearers were Carl Wilson, Guy Wilson, Byron Crandall, Ralph Bryant, Errol Smith and Gary Sterling. Mrs. M. H. Moosberry, organist accompanied Harold Pitt, soloist. Flowers were arranged by Mrs. Bob Byer, Mrs. Byron Crandall and Mrs. Ralph Bryant. Leo Hiram, son of Oda and Almyra Phipps Allard, was Jan. 17, 1910 and resided in the Knoxville area where he was an occupational therapist at the VA Hospital until retiring. He served in the Navy as an aviation machinist during World War II. He was married to Nellie Wagg and resided in the Monroe area for a number of years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Survivors include his wife, Nellie; stepson, Robert V. McKinney of Des Moines; stepdaughter, Mrs. Jerry (Margaret) Kincaid of Altoona; four grandchildren, two brothers, John Allard of Winfield, and James of Rock Island Ill.; and five sisters, Mrs. Robert (Marie) Kite of Davenport, Mrs. Clark (Eula) Baughman and Mrs. Walter (Gladys) McDonald of Knoxville, Mrs. Clyde (Frances) Benscoter of Long Beach, Calif.; and Mrs. John (Elizabeth) Walskes of Rock Island, Ill.
