He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, taught Sunday school and was chairman of the Administrative Council. He was a member of Waynesboro Historical Society, Eagles Club Inc., BPO Elks Lodge 731, Joe Stickell American Legion Post 15 and William Max McLaughlin VFW Post 695, all of Waynesboro.
He is survived by his wife, T. Joanne Tritle Adams of Waynesboro, whom he married July 8, 1949; one daughter, Sharon E. Brosious of Chambersburg; three sons, William G. Adams IV, Jeffrey M. Adams and David L. Adams, all of Waynesboro; two brothers, Robert W. Adams of Alvin, Texas, and Kenneth M. Adams of Altamonte Springs, Fla.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia L. Kauffman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, Waynesboro, with military services by the honor guard of Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599, Chambersburg, Pa. The Rev. James T. Williams and Chaplain Daniel F. Derk will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.
