William G. Adams Jr., 66, owner of Adams Plumbing and Heating, 106 E. North St., died suddenly at 9:05 p.m. Sunday after being admitted to the Waynesboro Hospital.
He had suffered a heart attack an hour earlier at his Pen Mar Summer home.
Mr. Adams was born in Waynesboro Aug. 23, 1903, son of the late William G. and Annie Heney Adams. All of his life was lived in Waynesboro.
As a young man he worked for a short time at Landis Tool Co. and later at Landis Machine Co. For several years he was employed as a serviceman by Decca Discs.
He entered the plumbing and heating business in 1931 when he was employed by the late Wilbur K. Kauffman at the shop located on Fifth and Potomac Streets. Mr. Adams purchased the business in 1953 and in 1955 moved it to the present location on Cottage Street.'He was active in the Republican party and for 22 years served as committeeman of the first precinct, first ward. Mr. Adams was also active in the work of the Franklin County Society for Crippled Children and Adults.
In addition to his widow, Mrs. Katherine Hassler Adams, he is survived by three sons of a previous marriage to the late Mrs. Lillian Cline Adams; William G. Adams, Jr., Waynesboro; Robert W. Adams, Alvin, Tex.; and Kenneth M. Adams, Orlando, Fla. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and two sisters; Mrs. J. Melbourn Foreman, a guest at the Guilford Convalesarium, and Mrs. C.M. MacPhee, Fruit Land Park, Fla.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Trinity United Church of Christ in charge of the Rev. H. Clayton Moyer. Burial will be made in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, PA.
