Born Dec. 25, 1935, in Wyanet to Calvin and Pearl (Johnson), he married Sandy J. Lamkin on Oct. 12, 1963, in Wesleyan Church in Wyanet. She survives.
Also surviving are daughter, Diana Barkley of Geneseo; son, David (Lori) Barkley of Princeton; two grandchildren, Kenneth and Kyle Barkley of Wyanet; sister, Thershea Warren of Cuba, Ill.; and three brothers, Arnold "Jim" (Mary Kay) Barkley of Peoria, John Calvin (Carolyn) Barkley of Wyanet and Bernard "Bunk" Barkley of Washington, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Rhea; and sister, Judy Young.
He graduated from Wyanet High School in 1954 and worked as an inspector at LTV Steel, Hennepin for 30 years.
He was a member of Wyanet VFW 6634 and a patron of Socks Bar in Wyanet.
He served in the Marine Corps as a corporal in the Infantry.
Burial will be in Forrest Hill Cemetery in Wyanet, with military rites conducted by Wyanet VFW 6634.
