Franklin O. Berner,66. of Lebanon,died July 20,2000. in Lebanon Community Hospital. Berner was born April 4, 1934, in Augusta, to LaVerna(Smith) and James Berner. He lived in Kansas for much of his life. In 1972 he moved to Southern California where he lived for 10 years. He lived in Boise, Idaho, for several years before moving to Florence, Oregon, in the early 1990s. He had resided in the Lebanon area for the past three years. Berner worked as a courtesy clerk and courtesy clerk trainer for Safeway stores in Florence and Lebanon. He retired from Safeway in October 1999. On May 17, 1953, he married Arlene M. Magby in Wichita. Survivors include his wife, Arlene Berner, Lebanon;three daughters. Deborah Bender, Tecate, Calif.Jeannie Coleman, Escondido, Calif., and Kathleen Summers,Star, Idaho;two sons, Randy Berner, Kuna, Idaho, and Larry Berner, Lebanon;four sisters, Nancy Mallory, Hutchinson, Mary Toon, Desota, Patricia Horton, Atlanta and Arleeta Greenwood, Arkansas City;two brothers, Charles Berner, Hutchinson, and Jewel Berner, El Dorado; 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
