Services for Annabelle H. Rohwer, 81, an area resident most of her life, were today at Plymouth Congregational Church, where she was a member.

Burial was to be at Greenwood, with Hazen and Jaeger's in charge.

Mrs. Rohwer died Thursday at a local hospital.

Born in Rosalia, she was the daughter of Richard and Hattie (Crutcher) Howard, both members of pioneer families.

She moved with her parents to Deep Creek when she was a small child and attended Irving Grade School here. Her father's farm included the land on which Fairchild Air Force Base is built.

She was graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and Cheney Normal School.

A mezzo-soprano, she refused a contract from the Metropolitan Opera Co. of New York to marry Fred H. Rohwer in 1924. She had been a soloist at church and civic activities here.

During the Depression she managed the Avalon Hotel here and later worked with her husband in hotel management. Mr. Rohwer, who had been manager of the Spokane Hotel, died in 1942.

Following his death, Mrs. Rohwer owned and operated a motel in Phoenix, Ariz., before returning to Spokane in 1950.

A past president of the Spokane Chapter of International Greeters Association, she had served at one time as official greeter for the Spokane Area Chamber of Commerce.

She was a founder and 49-year member of the Dantis Club and was its president in 1949. Mrs. Rohwer also was a member of the Landscape Association of the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist and of Mary Guild at Plymouth Congregational Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Nancy) McGregor of Hooper, Wash.; one son, Fred H., Boise; one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Myrtle) Brownfield, Chelan; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
