Lucius Chappell
Rev. Lucius Theodore Chappell, 71, of Route 1, Tyner, died May 31 in CHowan Hospital. A native of Chowan County, He was a retired minister and the son of the late Carrie Land Chappell and Lucius A. Chapppell.
He had pastored Hunters Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church, Riddle Pentecostal Holiness Church and Pungo Pentecostal Holiness Church. He served as pastor of Hunter's Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church, which he helped to organize, and was pastor there for 30 years prior to his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Mrs. Celia Copeland Chappell, other survivors include: one daughter - Mrs. Carrie C. Umphlett of Tyner; two sons - Lucius Roy Chappell and David T. Chappell, both of Tyner; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service for Rev. Chappell was conducted at 4:00 p.m. on June 2 in Hunter's Fork Pentecostal Holiness Church with Revs. Eula Harrell, Leland Garner, Roger Edwards and Hubert Shropshire officiating. Burial followed in the Happy Home Church Cemetery.
