Richard A. Brubaker, 77, of Hummelstown, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 19, 2009, at his home.
Born in Lebanon County on April 5, 1932, he was the son of the late Allan and Violet Kreichbaum Brubaker.
Richard was a brick mason; chef at the former D'Angelis Restaurant of Hershey and Dory's of Hummelstown; manager of the kitchens for the Vietnamese refugee camps at Ft. Indiantown Gap, Annville; and office maintenance for the former AMP Inc. He was an U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. Richard was an active member of Faith Bible Church, Mt. Joy where he enjoyed serving as an usher and on several committees for many years, and was the leader of the Senior Saints Ministry. Richard loved family gatherings especially overnight visits with his grandchildren, traveling with his wife and family, and fishing with his grandsons at the shore.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sara Jane Basehore Brubaker, whom he married on January 12, 1953; two sons, Steve A. Brubaker husband of Mary Louise of Elizabethtown, and Rick L. Brubaker husband of Bettina of Hoernerstown; two brothers, Samuel A. Brubaker of Lebanon, and William F. Brubaker husband of Melody of Harrisburg; five grandchildren, Carrie Jo Wynn wife of Robert of Yonkers, NY, Stacey Rae Brownlie wife of Ian of Reinholds, and David R. Brubaker, Daniel R. Brubaker and Timothy R. Brubaker all of Hoernerstown; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28, 2009, at 11 a.m., in Faith Bible Church, 2075 Harrisburg Avenue, Mt Joy, with Pastor Danny Linville, his pastor, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Hanoverdale Cemetery, West Hanover Township. Viewing will be held Monday in the church from 9:30 a.m., until time of the service.
