Emma Boise Baird Knight was the wife of J. W. Knight also buried in Guin City Cemetery next to her. We all called her Ma Knight when we were growing up. J.W. and Emma were married on 13 Nov 1898.(Source - Marriage Certificate)

According to a local newspaper clipping -She passed away at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Guin, Alabama Wednesday night March 26, 1975 following a year long illness.

A native of Marion County, she lived most of her life in Guin. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of The First Baptist Church in Guin.

Survivors include six daughters: Mrs. Lillie Stanford of Dora, AL; Mrs. Mae Green of Detroit, AL; Mrs. Eva Webb, Mrs. Lorene Estill, Mrs. Dexter Gann, and Mrs. Kate Dickinson, all of Guin, AL; One son, Victor Baird Knight of Guin, AL. Also 22 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 3 PM Friday from Norwood Brown-Service Chapel, Guin, AL. Rev. Don Graham officiated and the following grandsons were pallbearers: David Knight, Wayne Gann, Mike Estill, Eugene Ledlow, Clark Knight, and Roger Webb.

Her father was Rufus A. Baird and her mother was Sallie C. Clark.

(The name on the headstone was spelled incorrectly. Others in our family all said it was spelled Boise not Boyce. It is spelled Boise on her death certificate that is in my possession.)

I will personally always have fond memories of my great grandmother - Ma Knight.
