Peter died in St. Mary's hospital of injuries received when he was hit by a car while walking cross hard road, Route 10.
Tuesday afternoon, Mr.Mayberry was driving a truck, met his daughter who was driving on the hard road near the intersection of the Sangamon road and Route 25. The cars pulled off the hard road and Mr. Mayberry crossed the highway to talk to his daughter. As he started to return to his truck, Mr. Mayberry saw automobiles approaching from both the east and the west. While hesitating he was struck by one of the approaching cars.
The hospital failed to find any internal injuries but by evening, Mr.Mayberry began to lose consciousness and became weaker.
Mr.Mayberry was born June 18, 1852 in Carlisle, Pa. In 1879, he married Mary C. Wisner in Cumberland county, Pa.
The following children survive: Mrs.Rosa Andrews of Decatur, W.N. Mayberry of Decatur, S.P. Newberry of Saskatchewan,Mrs. Ida Burnett of Route 5, Decatur, Earl J. Mayberry of Route 1, Oreana, and Miss Gertrude Mayberry of Oakley. One sister, Mrs.Mary Jane Snyder and a brother, Jerry Mayberry of Cumberland county, Pa. also survive.
