Obituary:
Jean Boyink, age 96, of Grand Haven passed away Saturday, November 14, 2009, at Sanctuary at the Shore. She was born September 10, 1913, to John and Margaret (Eelman) Bartels in Grand Haven. Jean was a 1932 graduate of Grand Haven High School and married James B. Boyink on September 19, 1936, in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on January 19, 1979. Jean was a member of Second Reformed Church, the Ladies Guild, Martha Circle and Senior Citizens Group. She volunteered for the American Red Cross and their blood drives, the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes. Jean enjoyed fishing, sewing, reading, cooking, and traveling. Jean is lovingly remembered by her caring and faithful daughter, Carol (Dave) DeBlaey of Grand Haven; six nieces and nephews: Susan (Richard) Rigterink, Nancy (Tom) Schulte, Mary Byl, Wendy (Glenn) Schlukebir, Karen (Henry) Mauriello, Gary (Betty) Byl; and several great-nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her brother, Wilmur (Jeane) Bartels; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mae (Gary) Byl and Al (Margaret) Boyink; and 2 nieces, Robin Bartels and Marilyn Heethuis. The service for Jean will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at Second Reformed Church with Rev. Mike VanKampen officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery.
