Age 81, of Wilmington, DE, died December 18, 2009.
Ruth was born February 28, 1928 in West Chester, PA, daughter of the late Charles and Emily Hasselman. She graduated from Clifton Heights High School where she excelled in sports and was captain of both the field hockey and basketball teams. Ruth worked for many years at Betty's Ice Cream Parlor on Route 202 and was an avid NASCAR fan.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Charles and Harry. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, John S. Fedena Sr.; son, John S. Fedena Jr. and his wife, Stephanie; daughters, Joan Greenamoyer and her husband, Jay, and Cynthia Miller and her husband, Frank; sister, Barbara Miles; grandchildren, John Fedena III, Nicole Fedena Figlarz and her husband, Martin, Leanna Greenamoyer Emig and her husband, Brian, Eric Miller, Kyle Greenamoyer, Ashley and Lexie Miller; brothers-in-law, James Fedena and his wife, Geraldine and Gerald Fedena and his wife, Linda; and Ruth's dog "Roxie".
The family would like to thank Dr. James Ritter and the staff of St. Francis Hospital for the excellent care given to Ruth.
Funeral services will be held at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd, Pike Creek, on Wednesday, December 23, at 12 noon. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10 am until services. The entombment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Ruth's memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, DE Chapter, 2 Mill Rd, Suite 106, Wilmington, DE 19806 or United Cerebral Palsy of Delaware, 700A River Rd, Wilmington, DE 19809.
