STAMFORD, Jan. 13.--Funeral is to be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon for Peggy Mae Newman, 5, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Newman, who was discovered dead Monday lying face down over a leak in a gas line near the family home.
Mr. and Mrs. Newman live on the Owen-Snebold oil lease about 10 miles north of Lueders. Presumably the child fell near the gas leak while playing and was asphyxiated. She was found by her mother.
The Rev. Fred Moreland, Baptist pastor at Lueders will conduct the funeral at Old Glory. Burial will be in Hooker cemetery north of Old Glory, under direction of Kenney Funeral home of Stamford.
She was born in Abilene Oct. 2, 1936, the family moving to this area while she was a baby. Besides her parents, she is survived by her grandfather, T. W. Newman of Abilene; two brothers, Perry and Jerry Newman; her grandmother, Mrs. Lofs Miller of Stamford, and her grandfather, L. J. Miller Sr., of Merkel.
