Diane Denise Anderson of 1104 East 11th Street Waynesboro, VA was born May 14, 1950. She died December 21, 2009 at 113 Hickory Hollow Lane in Stuarts Draft, VA where she had been cared for by her sister and brother-in-law. She was 59 years old.
Diane was the youngest of 5 children, born and raised in Waynesboro to Helen Louise Padgett Anderson and Orville Thomas Anderson.
Diane spent her entire life caring for others. In her younger years she was a babysitter and helped rear numerous children including many of those in her family. In later years she was the caregiver for her mother and sisters through long term illnesses and was always there to help those around her. She accepted her illness with dignity and grace and maintained a positive attitude. She enjoyed her collection of reading material and music and especially working on her crafts. She particularly enjoyed trips to the beach with those she loved and attending family reunions.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two older sisters, Helen Louise Smith who died in 2001 and Barbara JoAnn Sims who died in 2008 plus a sister-in-law, Betty Jean Anderson and a brother-in-law John H. Smith.
Diane is survived by one brother Orville Beverly "Jack" Anderson and one sister Judith "Judy" Anderson and her husband Andrew Brown and brother-in-law Jimmy C. Sims. Her nieces and nephews include Helen LuAnn Vaughan and her husband Bill Vaughn, John H (Sonny) Smith, Suzann Jones, P. Thomas Smith, Cindy Bright and husband Doug Bright, Jackie (Lynn) Carter, Debbie Fox and husband Jody, O. B. and wife Sharon Anderson, Owen and wife Amy Anderson, Bobby and wife Teresa Sims, David and wife Laura Sims, Anne Duarte as well as many second and third generation nieces and nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Bobby C. Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery at a later date
