Son of Peter & Theda(Norton)Pickett. Lucius fought in the Civil War, inlisting Aug. 12, 1861 in the 2nd MI. Cav., Co E. under Gen. Buell. During guard duty June 2, 1862 he was shot by bushwhackers and lost his right arm. Honerable discharged Aug. 9, 1862 he returned to his farm. In 1871 he bought 160 acres for farming in Newago, MI. Lucius Pickett married Maria S. Walkley Jan. 1, 1860 in Casnovia, MI. The Picketts had 3 children, Mary C. born Oct. 22, 1860; Lauren born Nov. 14, 1862 & Ola born Nov 19, 1875. Maria S.(Walkley)Pickett was the daughter of Oliver & Parthena(Smith)Walkley.
