She was born October 22, 1923 in Wayne County, daughter of the late Bessie and William Keel. She was the wife of the late William E. Hines and the Rev. Howard L. Brown, Sr.
Preceding her in death were three sisters, Ruby Jackson, Frances Carter, and Helen Best; and a brother, William Keel.
Surviving are three children, William (Billy) Hines and wife Karen, Becky Hines and husband Arnold Carson, and Howard Brown, Jr., and Michael Lambrix whom she considered her adopted son, all of Wilmington; one grandson, James Dillon, II and one great-granddaughter, Sarah Dillon; step-grandson, Austin Bean (Sheena) and step-granddaughter, Marcia Bean (Ovi); two step-great-grandsons, Noa and Banyan Bean; and her wonderful caregiver, Carole Lynn.
Sarah was a member of United Advent Christian Church. She retired from Roses Department Store. She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Neill Musselwhite and staff for the many years of caring for our mother. Also, thanks go to the staff of Wellcare Home Healthcare for the attention shown over the past several years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with the Rev. Adrian Shepard and the Rev. Sam Worley officiating.
