Donovan Was Buried Beside Wife He Slew
Side by side in the little cemetery down at Temple, Oklahoma, were laid the bodies of Dennis Donovan and his wife Ida Donovan.
It was the will of the relatives and the orphaned children that the differences of the couple be forgotten in death and that the body of the father who was crazed with love rest side by side of the wife he had slain after 15 years.
Mrs. Donovan died at the New University Hospital in Oklahoma City at four o'clock Friday afternoon as the result of four bullet wounds from the hands of her husband at 6:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Donovan killed himself almost immediately after shooting his wife.
The bodies of both were sent to Temple at 7 o'clock Sunday morning and services were held there at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Following several years of differences, which would always be overcome, Mrs. Donovan filed suit for divorce March 14 alleging cruelty on the part of Donovan. Thursday afternoon according to neighbors, Donovan seized his wife as she was passing their garage in the rear of their home at 614 West Avenue F, Capitol Hill. He dragged her into the garage and began shooting. Four shots penetrated her breast and he turned one shot through his brain. Two sons, Virgil, 13 years of age and Ray, 11 years old, survive them.
