Thomas Jefferson Danks--Thomas Danks was born at McKeesport, Penn., March 13, 1852 and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mila Vaught, Aug. 18, 1938. The son of Peter and Ellen Danks, he came to Iowa when 19 years of age. He settled in the Tool's Chapel neighborhood and considered this his home to the end of his days. He married Elizabeth Lust Dec. 27, 1871. Nine children were born to this union, two of whom preceded their father in death. Mrs. Danks preceded her husband in death in 1932. The living children are Mrs. Mila Vaught, Mrs. Maude Woody and Mrs. Nettie Foreman, all of Monroe. Mrs. Mary Gifford of Buffalo, Mo., Will Danks of Des Moines, Peter Danks of Runnells, and Earl Danks of Council Bluffs. Survivors also are a sister, Mrs. Henry Hummel of Monroe and a brother, william of Madrid. In early manhood Mr. Danks united with the Methodist Episcopal at Tool's Cha[el of whicch church he was a steadfast and loyal member to the close of his life. Thomas Danks was more than merely a member of the church of his choice; he was first, last and all of the time a consistant follower of his Lord and Master. A Christian who examplified his religious convictions in his daily life. He faithfully served his generation. He now sleeps with his fathers, for such as his dying is the Crown of Life. Burial service followed at the GiffordCemetery, east of Monroe.
