The family lived in a house on South Clay in Ferguson, St. Louis County, Missouri that they had built in 1904 or 1905. The home was considered to be historically important and was included in a walking tour of Ferguson more than 100 years later. According to stories told about the house, the columns of the portico came from the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
Amanda's husband worked as a purchasing agent for the railroad. He was also the mayor of Ferguson from 1907 to 1911.
The reverse side of the Jacques Family marker reads THOMPSON. Amanda's daughter, Olive, was married to a lawyer named Frank A. Thompson.
At the time of her death, Amanda was 74 years, 10 months and 18 days old. She was survived by her husband and was buried on 22 Dec 1916.
