Arthur L. Conklin, Retired Falls Barber, Dies

Arthur R. Conklin, 60, 2106 Second avenue north, retired Great Falls barber, died at a local hospital Tuesday afternoon. He had been seriously ill since February, and in failing health the last two years.
Conklin was born at Mapleton, Minn., June 20, 1886. He came to Montana in 1913, staying a short time in Great Falls then going to Big Sandy, where he filed on a homestead. He returned to Great Falls in 1924 and engaged in barbering. From 1937 until 1944 he operated Conklin and Sons barber shop at 22 Fourth street north, selling out when a son entered the armed forces. For a time he was associated with his brother, Charles, in the Johnson Hotel barber shop.

Surviving are his wife, whose maiden name was Ethel West; two sons, Lawrence in Vallejo, Calif. and Laverne of Great Falls, and his brother, Charles.

He was a former member of the Odd Fellows lodge, in which he had been very active, and was a member of the First Congregational church.
