Thomas George Allen Tharp was the son of George Allentharp and Ann Spencer Tharp. His father shortened the name from Allentharp to Tharp and used Allen as a middle name for all his sons and daughters. For some reason unknown to the family Thomas was buried as Atharp but the name was truly Allen Tharp
