Velma May Morris, age 92 of Vinita, Oklahoma formally of Baxter Springs, Ks passed from this life December 18, 2009 in Vinita, Ok.
Velma was born May 15, 1917 in Parson, Kansas to the union of Maurice and Maure (sic) Van Hoorbeke.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Constatine Morris on April 30, 1949 in Benton County, Arkansas.
Velma attended college and graduated with a degree in nursing.
Velma devoted all of her time to love and care for her family and friends.
She was a member of the Park Hill Nazarene Church, Galena, Ks.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond Morris; one brother Paul Warren Hummer; one sister Colleen Wyatt.
She is survived by one daughter Joy (Melanie) Hill of Kansas City; two sons Paul Morris of Vinita, Ok, and Andrew Morris of Vinita, Ok; one brother Dwight Hummer of Texas; one sister Sue Allmond of Chanute, Ks. Along with ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Pleasant View Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.
In Lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Park Hill Nazarene Church, Galena, Ks.
