MYRTLE E. PARKS, 97, Arkansas City, died Thursday (March 4, 1994) at the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday (March 8, 1993) in the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home with Lee Collins officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Arkansas City Senior Citizens Center. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Mrs. Parks was born Aug. 17, 1895, at Clark, S.D., to Paul and Sarah Jane Willenberg. She was raised in Stockton, Mo. She married James Thornton on Oct 12, 1913 in Stockton, Mo. She later married Jasper E. Parks on Jan. 2, 1936 in Winfield. She was a retired homemaker & was known for her poetry. Survivors include one brother; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands, two sons, Don H. and James D. Thornton; two daughters, Ruby Leet and Beulah Greer; two brothers and one sister. Arrangements are being made by the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City. Interment was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Arkansas City, Kansas.
