JOSEPH ANTHONY "SOUP" BOONE, 80, of Howardstown, died Thursday, May 15, 1997, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. He was a native of Howardstown, had formerly worked at the old J. W. Dant Distillery at Gethsemane and the Joseph E. Seagrams Distillery at Athertonville. He retired from AmeriGas at New Haven and served as a Nelson County Constable. He was the son of the late James Franklin and Susie M. Mattingly Boone. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Marilyn Louise Boone; two sisters, Catherine Wine, Agnes Boone; three brothers, Lawrence Boone, John Walter Boone and Louis Boone. Surviving are his wife, the former Teresa Mae Head; four daughters, Mary Suzanne Boone of Louisville; Janet Maria Bowling of New Haven; Shirley Bishop of Logansport, Ind.; Peggy Spalding of Louisville; four sons, Tony Joe Boone of Sesser, IL.; James Edward "Eddie" Boone of New Haven; Paul Gerard Boone of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Margaret Mary Hicks of New Haven; Theresa Hargadon of Dallas, Texas; three brothers, Adolph and Delime Boone, both of Howardstown; Jimmy Boone of Louisville; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church at Howardstown. Burial will be in the church cemetery. His sons, Tony Joe, James Edward, Francis Marion and Paul Gerard Boone will be the pallbearers. Expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Ann Church or St. Ann School, Howardstown, Ky. 40051. Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
